Jenna Shinsato, AMFT #141072 is a mental health therapist in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and virtually anywhere in California via telehealth. Jenna's weekend virtual and in-person availability allows for flexibility to fit client's schedules. Jenna provides individual, couples, and family therapy, and specializes in teens, young adults, and adults. Jenna utilizes EMDR, DBT, multicultural counseling, psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, and family systems in her practice. Jenna works with anxiety, depression, stress, personality disorders, substance use, relationship issues, interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts, family issues, marginalized and minority challenges and attachment issues.
Jenna is a 5th generation Japanese-American and is proud to be a part of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. Jenna is passionate about the importance of intersectionality and the many facets that encompass one's identity. Jenna believes that there are so many ways one's experiences, surroundings, and biology contribute to how one makes meaning of their lives. Through identifying, understanding and learning to work with such contributions, Jenna believes one can find peace and live authentically.
Jenna was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and has since lived in different cities along the West Coast. Jenna has comfortably landed in Los Angeles and enjoys the sunny weather and novelty of the city. Jenna currently resides in West Hollywood with her partner and dog.
